First time buying web-hosting here and very confused due to the amount of choice.
I’ve built a site with PHP 5, MySQL on my localhost it’s all about user-submitted articles. I’m hoping to grow a community and keep articles stored in the database for a long time. So disk space is a much. I’m not expecting high volumes of traffic instantly but I’d like to have enough for the site to scale. My site send email’s via SMTP so the host must allow that too. Security is important so I’m going to need SSL certificated and a web hosting company that update’s its server often and has a reputable history. I require .co.uk and .com domain names yet I’d like the shared server to be in the UK because this is faster I believe (not sure)? I’d like to run cron jobs to back the site up. I’d like to buy a years hosting.
